22nd September 2016. Foc.us Launches tDCS Performance Enhancement for Pro and Amateur Athletes

20, September 2016: Foc.us, the market leader in consumer transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) technologies, launches its newest device, the Go Flow Sports edition, for pro and amateur athletes looking to increase their sporting ability with brain stimulation.

Recent coverage [1,2] of the use of tDCS by professional athletes at the Rio Olympics has prompted an unprecedented growth in demand from professional and amateur athletes alike.

The Go Flow makes this exciting technology accessible to everyone and not just pro-athletes.

The Go Flow Sports edition is a versatile neural stimulator which can target several aspects of sporting prowess. Two separate settings based on independent scientific research allow anyone to target either rapid sporting skill acquisition or increase strength and endurance during training and competition.

“Brain stimulation shouldn’t be restricted to only Olympic athletes,“ said Foc.us CEO Michael Oxley. "Any sportsperson wanting to improve their game, run that extra mile or just nudge themselves into being more active, should have access to this highly effective technology. Whether you’re a pro or amateur athlete, the Go Flow Sports is available for you now.”

The $129 device includes everything needed to incorporate brain stimulation into your next training session. Pre-orders begin today and shipping on 10th October.

Science of transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive neurostimulation technique that has become very popular and widely reported in the scientific literature over the last 15 years. It has been shown to have lasting positive effects on mental and physical performance in healthy men and women in a wide variety of tasks and settings.

The theory of tDCS is that by passing a mild electrical current over the scalp, the excitation levels of brain cells can be altered, thereby subtly affecting the way the brain behaves. As the brain is a key part of sporting skill, strength and endurance, we can improve these by helping the brain to adapt to training in effective ways.

With the right settings, scientists have found that they can extend endurance [3], increase strength [4], or accelerate physical skill acquisition [5].
