Iasi, Romania, March 21, 2016: Connect,
a non-profit start-up in the funding phase, introduces the Connect Card
— the world’s first donation card, designed for the global retail
market. The date of the official launch, was chosen to coincide with the
celebration of the International Day of Happiness, to serve as a
reminder for the universal right of happiness, that the entire human
family pursues.
The Connect Card, the world’s first donation card for retail, has a strictly social mission, with the goal to improve the wellbeing of the society.
The ConnectCard is similar in size to a credit card, with a base nominal value and a barcode on the back. In terms of functionality, the card works by getting it scanned in retail stores, at checkout. The donation, which is equal to the base nominal value printed on the card, appears on the receipt, after the barcode gets scanned, along with the rest of the purchased items.
Due to its universal character, the Connect Card can be implemented in countries all over the world, where retail infrastructure exists.
Connect is currently running a fundraising campaign on IndieGoGo, an online crowdfunding platform, aiming to raise $4.35 Million. The money will cover the costs of setting up the organization that will manage the funds collected through the Connect Card, and also for running a pilot program in Romania, which is expected to start in the second quarter of 2017. The global expansion of the Connect system is predicted to take place by 2020.
